Every Bath Needs a "Designated Watcher"

January is National Bath Safety Month. We know you’re rocking it, but just a reminder that every bath needs a “designated watcher.” The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that a caregiver is present during bath time for all children under age 4. So stay put and minimize distractions! Before starting the water, get everything you need so that you don't have to leave the bathroom once the bath begins. Also be sure to put those phones away to supervise without distractions. You got this!

It's a New Year

Here's a friendly reminder that now is a great time go through your kids bath toys and check for mold. ✅If you're in organizing and cleaning mode as we kick off a new year, take that energy to the tub! Examine bath toys very carefully as they hang out in a moisture-filled space that creates the perfect environment for mold (we know, nasty!) 🤢⠀For toys that come apart - open them up, examine closely for mold, and give them a clean. Especially pay attention to ones that have holes and can often hold water. Tips for Picking Out Bath Toys

Babies/infants (up to 12 months)  Babies and infants put everything in their mouths, so at this stage it’s especially important to know what the bath toys you give your child are made of. Be sure to select toys that are BPA-free and made from natural, non-toxic materials such as natural rubber. At around the one-year mark children become curious – exploring and examining everything. This is certainly true at bath time, as they will squeeze or bite toys as part of their play. Avoid squirt toys and opt instead for bath toys that are hermetically sealed (no holes = no mold). Squirt toys retain water and are notorious for growing nasty mold, and that’s the last thing you want to see coming out...

For today’s Tub Tip, we’re getting those toys squeaky clean! 🧼Regularly washing your bath toys can not only ensure they are clean and safe, it will also help them last longer and prevent mildew buildup.
